The BNP has again blamed the government for the price hike of rice and other essential commodities across the country.

The party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed made the allegation at a press conference at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in the city on Tuesday (September 19).

Rizvi Ahmed said that the countrymen are facing untold miseries due to abnormal price hike rice and other commodities. The rice price rate has gone out of purchase capacity of a large number of people, he claimed.

The BNP leader said that corruption and looting of the government and the ruling party men are responsible for the abnormal price hike of rice.

He criticized the government for buying rice from Myanmar who are now killing the Rohingya Muslims massively. He came down heavily on Food Minister Quamrul Islam for his Myanmar visit along with his wife for importing rice.

“When thousands of Rohigya people are being killed mercilessly and fleeing persecution in Rakhine State of Myanmar, at the time the Bangladesh government is importing rice from the bloody country,” he said.

Earlier on Monday, the party’s standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan also accused the government of price hike of rice and other commodities.

Meanwhile, before allegation raised by the BNP, two ministers on Tuesday (September 19) admitted that the price of rice was increased to an abnormal level.
