Staff correspondent:

Workers of a readymade garment factory staged demonstration over their unpaid salaries and allowances, blocking the road in Abdullahpur area of Dhaka Tuesday (September 19).

Police, however, managed to clear the road removing them peacefully, in the morning.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Uttara Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Joydeb Kumar Bhadra told Banglanews that they didn’t have to baton-charge the agitated crowd to move them away.

Besides, police discussed over the problem with the factory authority, he added.

Angry workers of the garment factory owned by APS group located at Atipara mor area of Dakshinkhan said that the authority closed the factory without paying their money, over four months.

However, DMP Uttara East Inspector (Investigation) Shafikul Ghani Sabu said that vehicle movement turned normal as the protesting workers were taken aside.
