The ‘5th Showcase Malaysia-2017’ begins in Dhaka on Thursday with the participation of 50 Malaysian business entities.

Bangladesh-Malaysia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BMCCI) is organising the four-day event at International Convention Centre Bashundhara.

Industries minister Amir Hossain Amu is expected to be the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the event while former Malaysian high commissioner Idham Zuhri Mohammed Yunus will be a special guest, BMCCI president Md Alamgir Jalil said at a press briefing at the Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday.

The participating organisations were drawn from manufacturing, export, education, service providing agencies, telecommunication, bank, insurance, information technology, tourism and health sectors, he added.

During the fair, Bangladeshi entrepreneurs will also have one-to-one discussions with their Malaysian counterparts, Alamgir said.

The show will encourage Malaysian investors to invest in Bangladesh, said former BMCCI president Syed Moazzam Hossain.
